The European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) works up a program on development of the agrarian sector in Azerbaijan. It envisages investment in the medium-sized companies specialized in manufacturing of agrarian products,Trend reports citing Jean Lemierre, the President of EBRD. EBRD will support development of the agrarian sector, agro-business through Azerbaijani banks, he stressed.
According to Lemierre, the goal of the todays trip to Guba is to discuss the possible directions of the activities in the agrarian sector. We will discuss the support of agriculture that is support of many medium-seized companies, he added.
Taking into consideration EBRDs plans on doubling of liabilities in front of the Azerbaijani bank system in 2006, it may be explained with the expansion of the activities of the bank in the country.
