Russian shipping company eager to transport oil via Caspian

Sovkomflot, a biggest shipping company of Russia, can enter the market on oil transportation via the Caspian. The company has set up talks on the construction of a navy needed in this respect with the Group of Marine and Oil and gas project, Trend reports citing the Russian daily Commerzant The management of the company started preliminary talks with BP, an operator of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan main export oil pipeline, the French company Total, a participant of the Agip KCO, which is developing the Kashagan field, and LUKOIL, which is involved in the development of perspective projects on production in the North Caspian shelf.

Sovkomflot has set up the development of a project on the construction of a series of 5-10 tankers with the deadweight of 13,000-25,000 tons with the group Morskiye and Oil and Gas projects. The budget of the project is approximately $300m.
