Audi, BMW, Porsche post lower October sales

(autoinsidernews) - Audi of America reported that its October 2006 sales totaled 6,431 units, which is down 3.4 percent compared to strong results a year ago. For the year-to-date, Audi sales are up 4.1 percent over the same period in 2005. While sales of most models were down, including a 25.9 percent drop in A4 sales (the automaker's number one seller), the Q7 continues to post strong sales numbers, and the A8 posted 12.5 percent increase over the same month last year

The BMW Group reported that its U.S. sales decreased in October by 4.6 percent.

BMW brand sales were down 7.2 percent in October, driven down by lower sales of the 3-Series and X5 models. BMW brand sales are up 2.2 percent year-to-date. While MINI USA reported a 13.7 percent increase in October sales, the brand is down 5.1 percent for the first ten months of 2006, reports Trend.

Porsche Cars North America announced that its October sales in the U.S. were down 9 percent from the same period last year. Porsche posted sales of 2,355 units in the month of October, compared to sales of 2,588 during the same month in 2005. The Boxster / Cayman series was up 52 percent from last year, but sales of the 911 and the Cayenne fell. Through the first 10 months of 2006, Porsche's sales are ahead of 2005's record-breaking pace, with sales up 9 percent over last year. Despite the soft October sales, the 911 is on pace to set its own one year record, with sales up 20 percent so far this year.
