A delegation of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan consisting of leading officials of the Body and international consultants is expected to pay a working visit to Brussels. The visit of the Azerbaijani delegation headed by Asgar Abdulayev, Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee is expected to be held on November 20-25, a source in UNDP Azerbaijan told Trend. The visit will be held within the project Improvement of Azerbaijan's Customs System.
Preparation works for the initial reading of the new Customs Code of Azerbaijan have been completed. The main aim of the visit if to discuss the document in the corresponding bodies of EU, as well as to exchange opinions in this issue, and receive references, recommendations, and proposals, the source in UNDP said.
The annual project financed by the European Commission and implemented by UNDP was launched in January, 2006. The main aim of the project worth of в'¬900.000 is to render assistance to the State Committee in improving the legislation base in the field of customs, bring it in accordance with the international standards, particularly, in accordance with EU Customs Code, as well as improvement and implementation of the State Customs Committee's information technologies development strategy.
