Business Materials 20 February 2007 12:49 (UTC +04:00)

The next 6th meeting of an intergovernmental commission of TRACECA transport corridor member states has been postponed to September 2007. Akif Mustafayev, the TRACECA National Secretary for Azerbaijan, informed Trend that the meeting was originally planned to be held in the spring.

The reason for the postponement is given that holding a conference on the co-operation with the EU in the field of transport is also expected to be held during the same period and representatives of Russia and Belarus, who are not members of TRACECA are also expected attend this event.

During the forthcoming meeting, Bulgaria will hand the chairmanship of the Organization to Kazakhstan. Rustan Djenalinov and the State General of the Organization, representing Kazakhstan, will retain his position.

According to Mr. Mustafayev, during the sitting, the possibility of co-operation to participate as an observer in the Egypt transport corridor is expected to be considered. Egypt recently put forward such a proposal. To date, six countries have given a positive reply on this issue and the remainder of the countries proposed their decision on the above-mentioned issue.
