IMF Adjourns Considering Staff Report

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend I.Khalilova / The International Monetary Fund (IMF) Board of Directors has postponed the meeting to discuss the Staff Report, which was based on the estimated results of short-term and mid-term tasks set for the Azerbaijan government to develop the national economy, as well as structural reforms plans. The IMF Baku Office announced that the meeting which was originally scheduled for 7 May has been postponed to 7 May.

IMF has received an approval by the Azerbaijani Finance Ministry and the National Bank of Azerbaijan on the publication of a report after its adoption to which the Ministry was asked to inject two minor changes. Once the changes have been made, the updated document should be submitted to the Board of Directors.

The Staff Report also includes the results of a review of Azerbaijan's relevance to Article 4 of the agreement on the establishment of the IMF which was held in February 2007. The review is held once a year in all IMF member-states. Over the two-year period, IMF held consultations within the framework of Article 4 in co-operation with Azerbaijan.
