Azerbaijani Poultry Farmers Request Government to Cancel Value Added Tax on Import of Feed

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. S.Babayeva / Aydin Valiyev, Chief of the Republican Community of Poultry Farmers, stated that the poultry enterprises of Azerbaijani appealed to the Government to cancel the Value Added Tax (VAT) on import feeds.

According to Valiyev, the prices of feeds are due to increase, 80% or 90% of which are purchased from abroad, including Russia, Turkey and Iran.

"Prices rise almost every day and we cannot follow it. The rise in price made up 50% more compared to 2006, "Valiyev said. Cancellation of VAT is the single way to escape the rise in price of local poultry production.

Republican Poultry Farmers unites twenty-nine enterprises, including Mardakan Broyler, Siyazan Broyler, Devechi Broyler, Zira Broyler, Arco Co, Imishli Broyler, and Shamkir Broyler. Some twenty-eight of them are poultry and only one enterprise is a distributor of veterinary medical products. The number of workers employed by poultry farms is between 15,000 and 20,000.
