Azerbaijan, Baku, 20 June /corr. Trend S.Aliyev / By the end of the year, Azerbaijan will fully repay its electricity debt before Iran, the Vice President of Azerenergy JSC, Marlen Askerov, said.

Nearly 1mln KWt/h is being repaid to Iran per day, with 600,000 KWt/h being provided via the Imishli ( Azerbaijan) and Parsabad ( Iran) and nearly 400,000 KW/h via line of Astara ( Azerbaijan) - Astara ( Iran).

The remaining debt totals more than 250 KWt/h.

Azerbaijan provides the electricity demand of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic at the expense of supplies from Iran. Azerbaijan receives electricity from Iran during the winter period in case of an electricity deficit and returns it in the summer in the case of a deficit in Iran.

The electricity debt to Iran is being returned with an extra of 11% due to losses experienced on the Iranian side whilst supplying electricity to NAR.
