Azerbaijan ups oil transport via Turkey in May

Over 25.7 million barrels of oil were transported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline in May compared to 23 million barrels in April, according to the Botas Web site. Around 113.7 million barrels oil were transported via BTC through Turkey in January-May.

Nearly 264 million barrels oil was transported via BTC through Turkey in 2008.

BTC pumps mainly Azerbaijani Azeri Light oil and also small volumes of Kazakh oil from Tengiz.

In January-May, around 5.55 million barrels of Kazakh oil from the Tengiz field was transported via BTC compared to 4.4 million barrels in January-May 2008.

The total length of BТС is 1,768 kilometers including the 443 kilometer section running via Azerbaijan, the 249 kilometer section via Georgia and the 1,076 kilometers via Turkey. Construction of the pipeline began in April 2003 and it was filled with oil on May 18, 2005

BTC shareholders include BP (30.1 percent); AzBTC (25 percent); Chevron (8.90 percent); Statoil Hydro (8.71 percent); ТРАО (6.53 percent); Eni (5 percent); Total (5 percent); Itochu (3.40 percent); Inpex (2.50 percent); ConocoPhillips (2.50 percent) and Amerada Hess (2.36 percent).

In May, around 16 million barrels of oil was transported via Iraq-Turkey pipeline through Turkey compared to 12 million barrel in April. Over 68.4 million barrels of oil was transported via the pipeline in January-May.

Around 2.3 million barrels of oil was transported via Ceyhan-Kirikkale through Turkey in May compared to 1,740 barrels in April. Around 7.5 million barrels of oil was transported via Ceyhan-Kirikkale in January-May.

Around 1.7 million barrel of oil was transported via Batman-Dordyol in May compared to 972,000 barrels in April. Nearly 5.4 million barrels of oil was transported via this pipeline in January-May.
