Azerbaijan gets over 700 million cubic meters of gas from Shah Deniz field

Azerbaijan got 725.8 million cubic meters of gas from Shah Deniz gas condensate field in the first quarter compared to 1 billion cubic meters within similar period of 2008, SOCAR said.

Roughly 304.12 million cubic meters of total volume of gas fall on SOCAR's share holding in Shah Deniz project but the rest part - 421.7 million cubic meters of gas from this field was bought by SOCAR. 

Participants of the agreement are: BP (operator) - 25.5 percent; Statoil Hydro - 25.5 percent; NICO - 10 percent; Total - 10 percent; LukAgip - 10 percent; TPAO - 9 percent; SOCAR - 10 percent.

Presently, gas is transported to Georgia and Turkey via South Caucasian gas pipeline. Over 9 billion cubic meters of gas will be extracted within Stage-1 of Shah Deniz development in 2009.

The second stage of Shah Deniz development is planned to be realized by 2014. Up to 20 billion cubic meters are planned to extract within the second phase annually.
