The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) in the fourth quarter will ship 628,000 tons of oil from the Russian port of Novorossiysk, which is pumping oil to the north, Energy Intelligence Group reported.
The Novorossiysk port transships own oil of SOCAR. In January-August, 2009 SOCAR exported over 1.7 million tons of oil via the northern Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline compared about 865,000 tons in the same period in 2008.
SOCAR intends to increase oil export via Baku-Novorossiysk up to 2.5 million tons in 2009 compared to 1.3 million tons in 2008.
Today, via the Baku - Novorossiysk oil pipeline, Azerbaijan receives (at the port of Novorossiysk) Urals brand oil because of mixing with other oil producers.
The operator of the Baku-Novorossiysk was the Azerbaijan International Operating Company until the end of 2007.
