The head of the international department of the Greek National Agency for the Use of Alternative and Renewable Energy will arrive in Baku, the ambassador of Greece to Azerbaijan Toannis Metaxas said at a meeting with Deputy Minister of Industry and Energy of Azerbaijan Gulmammad Javadov.
During the visit, the Greek side expects support from the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan in reaching agreements on a number of pilot projects in Azerbaijan in this sphere.
Metaxas said that Greece is ready to share experience with Azerbaijan with regards to alternative and renewable energy. Greek Development Agency started functioning within the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, as well as a National Agency for the use of alternative and renewable energy sources functions in the country. According to Metaxas, cooperation of these two structures with Azerbaijan will be successful.
The Greek side proposed to hold the next meeting of the Azerbaijani-Greek inter-governmental commission in May 2010, Metaxas said at the meeting.
According to Metaxas, Greece has a number of investment projects abroad and investments in these projects exceed $20 billion. Speaking about the investment plans of Greece in Azerbaijan, Metaxas noted the importance of developing relations between the business people of both countries. He also noted that there are great opportunities for closer cooperation between the Greek consulting companies and Azerbaijan.
