Preparatory and demolition works on project of construction of a new plant for paving bitumen at the construction site of the former Aktau plant of plastics, JSC National Company KazMunaiGas Managing Director Daniyar Tiesov said.

Preparatory and demolition works on construction of a new plant for paving bitumen has already started. In early June of this year, we signed an agreement on procurement of works on construction of facilities on a turnkey basis between the LLP "JV" Caspi Bitum" and a consortium of JSC OGCC "KazStroyService" and "CITIC Construction", Tiesov said.

"After the completion of construction Kazakhstan will receive from 400,000 to 450,000 tons of bitumen a year. The Republic will be able to fully cover the domestic needs.

"I hope that the pace of road construction in Kazakhstan will be high for a long time," the managing director said.

It was earlier reported that in order to develop petrochemical industry in Kazakhstan "KMG" implements project of construction of paving bitumen in Aktau factory of plastics.

As a raw material it is planned to use oil from the Karajanbas in the amount of one million tons per year. After completing the construction in 2012, Kazakhstan will produce paving bitumen of brand BND 60/90, BND 90/130 and polymer-modified bitumen in the amount not less than 400,000 tons per year
