Azerbaijan, Baku, July 9 / Trend E. Ismayilov /

SOCAR has prepared a feasibility study of the project to build a new gas pipeline that will connect Igdir (Turkey) and Sederek in the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic, which is in the blockade as a result of the occupation of Azerbaijani lands by Armenia, a source said.

"Feasibility Study has been prepared within the gas pipeline Igdir-Nakhchivan," the source said.

SOCAR head Rovnag Abdullayev said that the company will take all costs for the construction of a new pipeline Igdir-Nakhchivan, according to the memorandum signed between Azerbaijan and Turkey.

Construction of a new pipeline is necessary to provide the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic with gas. The pipeline length will be 180 kilometers (with the presence of six gas distribution stations). Azerbaijan delivers gas to the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic owing to swaps with Iran. Azerbaijan transports about 1-1,2 million cubic meters of gas per day to Iran.
