SOCAR Georgia Petroleum opened a new petrol station in Georgia under SOCAR's brand, SOCAR said today.
According to the company, the station was opened in downtown of Marneuli, compactly populated by Azerbaijanis.
A total number of stations under SOCAR's brand has reached 43 with commissioning of two new stations. By late 2010 SOCAR plans to increase the number of petrol stations in Georgia to 60.
The opening of the petrol station was attended by the head of SOCAR Energy Georgia (represents SOCAR's interests in Georgia) Mahir Mammadov, Kvemo Kartli region's governor David Kirkitadze and Marneuli deputy executive power head Heydar Musayev. Also the opening ceremony was attended by other officials and representatives of the public.
Co-founders of SOCAR Energy Georgia are: SOCAR - 51 percent, Petro-Trans FZCO - 24.5 percent and Ivan Chkhartishvili - 24.5 percent.
