Turkmenistan, Afghanistan to hold intergovernmental talks in Kabul

Kabul will host a meeting of the intergovernmental Turkmen-Afghan commission on trade-economic and technical cooperation Aug.30-31, an official Turkmen source said.

The agenda includes issues on further strengthening trade and economic cooperation, implementation of joint projects, including construction of a transnational gas pipeline Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India and power supply facilities, as well as expanding humanitarian ties.

According to the Turkmen Government, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov at the last governmental meeting stressed that "Turkmenistan is interested in sustainable development in a neighboring country and intends to expand cooperation with Afghanistan, to provide full support in strengthening the principles the brotherly Afghan people's peaceful life".

"The major projects being implemented at Turkmenistan's initiative in the energy and transport sectors, will create favorable conditions for economic recovery of Afghanistan, will serve as a powerful factor in strengthening regional cooperation," he said.
