Azerbaijan, Baku, Oct. 20 / Trend, E.Ismayilov /

JSC Bakielektrikshebeke's (electricity distribution in Baku) power grid's current capacity is 4,808 megavolt-ampere (MVA), which is 53 percent more than in 2006, said the JSC Bakielektrikshebeke head Baba Rzayev said.

According to Rzayev's article, published today in Xalg qazeti, in January-September this year, the JSC carried out works of major upgrading of power grid to upgrade the infrastructure of power grid in line with modern standards. In particular, work is underway to reconstruct the Badamdar substation, which is of great importance for the energy supply to the central part of Baku, and in particular facilities of state matter. Transformers at the station have been replaced with more powerful ones.

According to Rzayev, reconstruction of the Mushfig and Daglig substations is also underway. The Khojasan substation has been built to reduce the load of the Binagadi and Darnagul-2 substations in Binagadi and Garadagh districts of Baku.

Substation No.227, which provides most part of the capital with electricity, has been fully reconstructed. During the reconstruction the substation was equipped with a new type of electric equipment.

Major repairs and maintenance work was carried out on the 110-kilovolt substations YBNZ-1, YBNZ-2, Gunashli, Bakikhanov, Radio Plant, Hazi Aslanov, MKZ.

According to Rzayev, in this period nine power substations with capacity of 110 kV each have been built and put into operation.

Despite the decline in power purchase by consumers in Baku, compared to previous years, payments for consumed electricity in January-September 2010 increased by 19.6 million manat compared to 2009, and by 25 million manat compared to 2008.

Efficient work has been done in the low voltage network, which enabled to collect 88.6 million manat for individual electricity consumers in January-September 2010. This is up by 9.2 percent compared to tee same period of last year.

Bakielektrikshebeke is also improving the calculation of consumed electricity. Bakielektrikshebeke installed 598,405 units of news electron meters only in Baku. Rzayev said the replacement of induction meters by electron ones showed an increase in transmission of useful electric power by 10-12 percent.

Bakielektrikshebeke is widely introducing new technologies to improve and simplify the payment for the consumed electricity. In particular, the enterprise's official website provides data about sum of consumer's electricity. Bakielektrikshebeke website is integrated into the international payment system Golden Pay to enable subscribers to pay for consumed electricity twenty-four-hour, using both debit and credit cards.

Bakielektrikshebeke's wage fund for 2010 is planned at more than 18 million manat, while the average salary on the enterprise reaches 450 manat.
