Georgian port of Poti increases oil cargo transshipment

The Georgian International Sea port of Poti handled 868,000 tons of oil in the first three quarters of this year compared to 662,000 tons of oil over the same period of 2009, a source in the Poti port told Trend.

"The port observed an increase in the cargo transshipment compared to last year," the source said.

According to the information, in 2009 the Poti port handled about 904,000 tons of oil, of which more than 105,600 tons accounted for Azerbaijan's share.

In 2009, the port handled about 6.1 million tons of various cargo, including more than 3.04 million tons - general cargo and over 2.1 million tons - bulked cargo.

The port reported that it handled 172,800 tons of containerized cargo in 2009. The port has
15 berths.
