Azerbaijan Railways increases oil cargo transportation

Azerbaijan Railways transported over 9.86 million tons of oil in January-October, compared to more than 8.27 million tons during the same period last year, a company source said today.

"An increase was observed in oil cargo transportation," he said. "Specifically, in January-October, the figure was 9.862 million tons of crude oil and petroleum products compared to 8.273 million tons in the same period last year."

According to the source, of the total volume of oil cargo transported during this period, 5.35 million tons fell to goods transported from Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, which is 4.1 million tons more than than during the same period last year.

In January-August, the company transported about 18.4 million different loads compared to about 17.22 million tons in January-October last year.

The country's railway regularly transports oil cargo from Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Azerbaijan. Oil and oil products are transported via rail to the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic's Kulevi Oil Terminal, Black Sea oil terminals, and the Georgian ports of Batumi and Poti.
