SOCAR intends to increase volume of work in shallow water of Guneshli field

The plans of SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) for 2011 envisage work on the construction of new and expansion of existing platforms in the shallow water of Guneshli field, a source in SOCAR said on Saturday.

According to him, as part of the works, it is expected to expand the platform Guneshli-19. Currently, 12 wells operate in this platform. Upon completion of these works, it will be possible to drill 12 more additional wells.

Also, according to the source, even one additional platform can be built on the field between platforms Guneshli-8 and Gunashli-19. Technical specifications are not yet ready and the process of preparing the plan of work, which this year will be conducted on Guneshli field, is still under development.

The head of SOCAR Rovnag Abdullayev said earlier that one of the goals of the company in 2011 is to construct new and repair existing platforms, pipelines and drilling new wells on offshore fields Guneshli and Oil Rocks.
