Nabucco Gas Pipeline International GmbH may start commercial shipments in late 2015, Bloomberg reported according to the managing director Reinhard Mitschek.

Nabucco project id designed to transport gas from the Caspian region and the Middle East to the EU countries. Construction of the pipeline is planned to start in 2012. The project's participants include the Austrian OMV, Hungarian MOL, Bulgarian Bulgargaz, Romanian Transgaz, Turkish Botas and German RWE.

Azerbaijan and Iraq are considered to be the main gas suppliers in the project's first phase. About 8-10 and 8 billion cubic meters are expected to be received. Subsequently, it is planned to use Turkmen gas in the project.

Earlier Mitschek said about the possibility of transporting Russian gas at a later stage of implementing the Nabucco project.

According to the head of Nabucco Corporate Communication & Public Affairs, Christian Dolezal, Russian fuel can only be additional to the main sources for the project.

Nabucco would be open for third parties and therefore would transport Russian gas if gas traders would like to buy it in the open season process - of course only as an add on to other sources, Dolezal told Trend.
