SOCAR and BOTAS are going to finalize a package of gas agreements in September

By late September, SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) and the Turkish state pipeline company BOTAS plans to finalize the package of gas agreements between Azerbaijan and Turkey, said the head of SOCAR Rovnag Abdullayev.

According to him, at present, specialists of SOCAR and BOTAS in Ankara are working on the harmonization of the remaining issues in these agreements.

The package includes gas contracts as costs of Azerbaijani gas to Turkey from the second stage of "Shah Deniz", gas supplies to Turkey from the field after 2017, as well as a transit agreement for the transportation of Azerbaijani gas via Turkey to Europe.

Gas produced during the second stage "Shah Deniz" development, considered as the main source for the "Southern Gas Corridor" project. Under the "Shah Deniz 2" Azerbaijan plans to ship gas to Europe at 10 billion cubic meters.

"Southern Gas Corridor" is one of the priorities for EU energy projects. It is intended to diversify routes and sources of supply and thereby increase the energy security of the EU. By the project "Southern Gas Corridor" include: gas pipeline "Nabucco", Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), ITGI (pipeline Turkey-Greece-Italy), "White Stream".
