Iran will increase gas export to Turkey to 30 million cubic meters of natural gas per day based on Turkey's appeal, reported Mehr quoting Managing director of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), Javad Oji as saying.

Iran's gas export to Turkey has increased by 12 percent during last six months to 24 mcm in average, but the transmit capacity of Iran-Turkey gas pipeline is 36-40 mcm per day.

According to the contract, Iran's gas export to Turkey should reach 30 mcm per day.

With regard to probability of decreasing gas price Oji said Iran and Turkey signed an "open condition" contract and the sides can discuss the price given the state of international market and changes there.

"Iran and Turkey has not discussed the decrease of gas price," he said.

Tehran and Ankara inked 25-year gas contract in 1996.

Iran is completing the 3rd and 4th parts of national gas pipeline network to increase the gas export capacity to 90 mcm per day to Turkey.

According to BP Company's statistics, Iran's gas production capacity is 138.5 billion cubic meters per year and its domestic consumption is 136.5 billion cubic meters.
