The Iranian oil minister has announced that building five liquefied natural gas (LNG) plants is on the agenda, but foreign contractors have failed to do their obligations in building four of the plants.

Rostam Qasemi blamed some of the foreign contractors for their profit-seeking look on the projects, saying that while implementing the Iran LNG project is underway with around $5 billion investment, some foreign companies had proposed investing $10 billion in the project.

Iran is one of the major holders of oil and gas reserves in the world, the minister said, adding that exporting LNG can boost the country's power of competition on international markets.
