Uzbekistan will begin constructing seven small and medium hydropower plants with total capacity of 937.6 MW to increase the share of hydropower resources in the energy balance of the country in 2012, Uzbekenergo told Trend today.
Five of hydroelectric power stations are planned to be constructed in Tashkent region (total capacity of 817.6 MW).
The total preliminary cost of construction of these hydroelectric power stations is estimated at $848.8 million.
The implementation period is four years.
According to Uzbekenergo's experts, the production volume at these hydroelectric power stations is more than 2.5 billion kWh.
