Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 8 / Trend, E. Ismayilov /

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) is re-branding gas stations in Ukraine, a SOCAR source told Trend on Thursday.

According to the source, by late 2011 no new gas stations are expected to open in Ukraine, but now re-branding of a number of stations is underway, which will be commissioned in the future.

The source did not mention the number of gas stations under re-branding.

"At present, 15 gas stations under the SOCAR brand are running," the source said.

SOCAR is the only producer of oil products in the country having two refineries and also owns petrol stations in Azerbaijan, Georgia and Ukraine. It is also a co-owner of the largest Turkish petrochemical complex Petkim. The company trades in oil throughout the world under the SOCAR Trading subsiduary.

SOCAR also includes the Azneft production association (the companies producing oil and gas onshore and offshore), Azerkimya industrial association (chemical enterprises) and Azerigaz industrial association (gas distribution).
