Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec.28 / Trend, E. Ismayilov /
The U.S. has always provided great support for implementation of oil and gas projects of regional and global importance in Azerbaijan, the head of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) Rovnag Abdullayev said at a meeting with outgoing U.S. Ambassador Matthew Bryza.
In turn, Bryza expressed his confidence that SOCAR will expand its activity and strengthen its position in the world market.
SOCAR is the only producer of oil products in the country (it has two refineries on its balance), and also owns petrol stations in Azerbaijan, Georgia and Ukraine. SOCAR is co-owner of the largest Turkish petrochemical complex Petkim. The company carries out the oil trade in various regions of the world through SOCAR Trading.
Jointly with foreign partners SOCAR is involved in major projects such as the development of the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli oil and gas fields' block and Shah Deniz gas-condensate field in the Caspian Sea.
SOCAR also includes the Azneft production association (the companies producing oil and gas onshore and offshore), Azerkimya industrial association (chemical enterprises) and Azerigaz industrial association (gas distribution).
