Turkmenistan's President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov approved Baymurad Hojamuhammedov's candidacy for the vice premier in charge of oil and gas and chemical industries, Turkmen government reported.
Speaking at a government meeting on the oil and gas sector's main goals, the president expressed confidence that "with enough experience in this field, [Hojamuhammedov] will cope with his responsibilities."
According to Berdimuhamedov, oil and gas sector is the basic branch of the national economy and stands among the priorities of state policy.
At the same time, he stressed "the need to ensure strict implementation of production plans of the branch enterprises and organizations, sustained growth of economic and financial indicators and high profitability of production."
The president also pointed out the importance of the care for the environment, and said that adverse environmental impacts of technology, chemical and other tools used in the extraction of crude oil, natural gas and gas condensate should be avoided.
