Gasoline prices in Kazakhstan are 20 higher lower than in Russia, Kazakh oil and gas minister Sauat Mynbayev said at an enlarged meeting of the Nur Otan (ruling party) on Monday.
"The fact that the level of oil prices in Kazakhstan is higher than in Russia is not true. Our prices are lower by 20 percent," Mr Mynbayev said.
He also believes rise in imported gasoline prices could be contained due to subsidies from the budget.
"Even at 100 percent fillability of load for all three refineries, we import 30-35 percent of the gasoline from Russia. Can we afford to import the volume at a loss or not? Perhaps we can. Then we have to provide for program of backing this price in this budget. There is no third way," he said.
