Belarus plans to purchase electricity in Central Asian countries, Belarusian First Vice-Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko said on Friday, Novosti-Kazakhstan reported.
"We are working on possible electricity supply from Central Asia's energy system to Belarus," Semashko said.
Semashko said that Belarus signed an agreement with Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries, which defines a mechanism of electricity sale to Belarus.
"It will swap schemes. The electricity will be sold on Russian-Kazakh border, and then the same amount of electricity will be purchased by Belarus at the Russian-Belarusian border," Semashko said.
