Azerbaijan solar plant to operate in two shifts

The plant for the production of photovoltaic modules (solar panels) in Sumgait (35 km from Baku) will enter full production for several months, chairman of the Committee on the Elimination of the State Agency for Alternative and Renewable Energy Jamil Melikov told Trend.

Before the creation of the commission, Melikov was deputy head of the State Agency on alternative and renewable energy sources. On June 1, the President of Azerbaijan signed a decree on the establishment of a State Agency on the basis of the alternative and renewable energy.

Melikov noted that operating the company at full capacity will be possible when plant is operating in three shifts.

"Currently the process of stuff training for the work in a second shift is nearing completion. And the work in three shifts will be possible in September," he noted.

The total annual production capacity of the plant is 120,000 panels with a total capacity of 30 megawatts.

It is planned to produce solar batteries also in the Sumgait industrial park in the future.
