At the time when global demand in energy is growing, BP and his partners are developing the project of the second stage of Azerbaijani Shah Deniz field development, which will open up the Southern Gas Corridor, Business Development Manager at BP Azerbaijan, Ernesto Daza said at the VI Caspian Oil and Gas Trading and Transportation Conference in Baku on Tuesday.

"The Shah Deniz II project will enable the Caspian gas to be delivered to the European markets for the first time in the history," Daza said.

He stressed that the Shah Deniz II project is one of the largest projects in the world, and the partners are now intensively developing. The first gas to be produced within this project, according to him, is scheduled for 2017.

He also stressed a strategic role of the Trans-Anatolian gas hub as gas pipeline in linking Shah Deniz II gas with Europe.

TANAP has also a key role for developing Turkey as energy hub.

He said that Europe needs the Southern Gas Corridor, which will meet its energy demand and diversify energy supplies.
