Fuel price rise in Turkey

Production of petrol and diesel fuel in Turkey has risen by 5.3 per cent in comparison with the previous month, standing at 1.163 million tons, the Turkish energy market regulator (EPDK) stated in its report on Wednesday.

Production of oil products have risen 11 per cent within this period, amounting to 2.1 million tons.
During January to August, production of oil products amounted to 14.3 million tons which is 2.1 per cent more in comparison with the similar period of 2011.

Petrol consumption stood at 185.200 tons in August which is 2.4 less than in the previous months. Diesel fuel consumption amounted to 1.3 million tons in August, falling by 8.7 per cent.

Petrol consumption hit 1.2 million tons in January-August 2012, falling by 6.2 per cent. Diesel fuel consumption amounted to 10.2 million tons, increasing by 7.1 per cent.

The average price for petrol in Turkey was 4.47 lira for 1 liter in August, which is 4.7 per cent more than the previous month. The price for diesel fuel was 3.85 lira for 1 liter rising by 2.9 per cent.

The official exchange rate as of October 17 is 1,8004 TRY/USD.
