A three-day international exhibition and conference Oil and Gas (OGT-2012), organised by the Ministry of Industry and the Chamber of Commerce of the country with the participation of British Summit Trade Events Ltd opened in Ashgabat on Wednesday.
According to the organisers, the representatives of the world's business community will receive information about the status and prospects of the oil and gas industry and given the opportunity to determine the forms of future cooperation and investment opportunities in the Turkmen market.
The conference will be attended by leaders of the oil and gas complex of Turkmenistan, international oil and gas and service companies, equipment manufacturers and financial institutions.
Turkmenistan in the CIS holds second position in natural gas reserves after Russia. Currently supplies are provided to Russia, Iran and China.
In accordance with the development of the oil and gas industry in 2030, the annual production of natural gas is projected to reach 250 billion cubic meters of oil, up to 110 million tons.
Large scale work on exploration, production, transportation, oil and natural gas refining, to ensure the domestic market, as well as the development of export routes for natural gas and petroleum products is underway.
An exhibition that introduces private firms and state-owned companies operating in different sectors - exploration and production of hydrocarbon resources, training and development, the supply of drilling equipment and technology from leading manufacturers, transportation, storage and processing of oil and gas in many other areas is being held during the conference.
