SOCAR trust reveals volume of work conducted in 2012

In 2012, the Complex Drilling Works Trust of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) carried out drilling work to a depth of 116, 894 metres, manager of the trust Iskandar Shirali said in an interview with Khalq newspaper.

As Shirali said of the total volume of drilling work 109,421 metres accounted for operational and 7473 metres for exploratory types of drilling.

In addition, according to the manager of the Trust, since the beginning of last year, drilling was launched at 65 wells, and construction of 74 wells was completed. Some 79 wells were passed to the customers, which was eight wells more than in 2011.

Regarding figures for January this year, Shirali said that 10,109 metres of drilling work was carried out in the past month which is 12.4 per cent more than planned. Moreover, in January, drilling was launched at eight wells and completed at four and five were passed to the customers.

SOCAR includes production association Azneft (companies producing oil and gas on land and sea) and Production Association Azerkimya (chemical industry) as well as production association Azerigas (gas distribution).

In addition there are a number of processing and service enterprises and institutions engaged in geophysical and drilling operations within the State Oil Company.
