Turkey reduces electricity consumption and generation

Electricity generation in Turkey decreased by 8.4 per cent in February 2013 compared to the same month in 2012, amounting to 18.2 billion kilowatt/hours, the Turkish Electricity Transmission Company (TEIAS) said in a report posted on its website today.

Turkey imported 625.6 million kilowatt / hours of electricity in February which is three per cent less than the same month last year.

Imports of electricity to Turkey fell by 2.8 per cent amounting to 1.2 billion kilowatt / hours during the first two months of 2013 compared to the same period of 2012.

Electricity consumption dropped by 1.2 per cent reaching 18.8 billion kilowatt / hour in February 2013 compared to February 2012. Electricity consumption fell by three per cent amounting to 40.1 billion kilowatt / hour in January and February compared to the same period of 2012.
