Iranian experts have managed to manufacture surface valves used specifically in electrical submersible pumping for oil wells, the Shana news agency reported.

Electrical submersible pumping is used in oil wells which require high voltage electricity to extract oil from depths of thousands of metres. So they need special surface valves.

The manufactured surface valves have been successfully tested in some onshore oilfields.

Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi has said sanctions imposed by the enemies have resulted in development of the oil industry and fulfilment of domestic needs and Iran will turn into an oil industry equipment exporter.

He added that Iran turned problems caused by sanctions into advantages.

He went on to say that before imposing sanctions more than 80 per cent of oil development equipment was imported from western countries and now the country is able to meet its domestic needs and export the goods.

He said: "We have started to commission 70 petrochemical plants and by putting them into operation, we will be among the exporters of petrochemical products and polymer equipment in the international arena."
