Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, Dec. 23

By Huseyn Hasanov - Trend:

In Turkmenistan in January-November 2013 the growth rate of crude oil production amounted to 101.7 percent, gasoline production - 102.2 percent, diesel fuel, kerosene, lubricants, coke - 100.2 percent, petroleum bitumen - 132 percent, liquefied gas - 101.7 percent, polypropylene - 103.4 percent, the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of Turkmenistan said in its statement released on Dec.23.

The country annually produces about 10 million tons of oil, a large part of which is processed in local refineries, the ministry said.

Two refineries operate in Turkmenistan in the cities of Seidi and Turkmenbashi. The latter is the largest enterprise in the country. A full scale reconstruction is being carried out in the Turkmenbashi refinery with the participation of large firms from Germany, Iran, Israel, the U.S., Turkey, France and Japan.

Some 6.535 million tons of raw materials were processed at Turkmenistan's refining complex in 2012. Several international tenders in the oil refining area will soon be announced in Turkmenistan.

The tenders are for the design and construction of diesel fraction hydro-treating, catalytic cracking and coking petrol hydrodesulphurisation units.

The tender program also includes the reconstruction of a millisecond catalytic cracking unit, the construction of the catalytic cracking of heavy oil residues, the reconstruction of the power supply system of refineries and other projects in the cities of Turkmenbashi and Sadie.

Turkmenistan plans to bring the oil refining capacity to 15 million tons of oil per year in 2015 and up to 20 million tons of oil per year in 2020.
