SOCAR exports almost three million tons of oil from Ceyhan port in Jan.-Feb.

The Marketing and Economic Operations Department of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) exported 2.99 million tons of oil from the Turkish port of Ceyhan in Jan.-Feb. 2014 compared to 3.17 million tons in the same period of 2013, SOCAR said on March 3.

SOCAR exported some 1.4 million tons of oil from Ceyhan in February 2014 compared to 1.74 million tons in February 2013.

In total, some 19.75 million tons of oil was exported by SOCAR from Ceyhan port in 2013 compared to 20.2 million tons in 2012.

Oil is supplied to the Ceyhan port through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline.

The total length of the BTC pipeline is 1,768 kilometers, some 443 kilometers of which runs through Azerbaijan, 249 kilometers through Georgia and 1,076 kilometers through Turkey.

Construction of the pipeline started in April 2003 and began flowing with oil on May 18, 2005.

Stockholders of BTC Co, established on August 1, 2002 are: BP (30.1 percent), AzBTC (25 percent), Chevron (8.9 percent), Statoil (8.71 percent),ТРАО (6.53 percent), Eni (five percent), Total (five percent), Itochu (3.4 percent), Inpex (2.5 percent), ConocoPhillips (2.50 percent) and ONGC (2.36 percent).
