SOCAR increases oil export from Ceyhan

The Marketing and Economic Operations Department of Azerbaijani State Oil Company (SOCAR) exported over 10.31 million tonnes of oil from Turkish port of Ceyhan in January-June, 2014 compared to 10.13 million tonnes in the same period of 2013, the company said.

SOCAR exported over 1.87 million tonnes of oil from Ceyhan in June, 2014 compared to 1.74 million tonnes in June 2013.

The state oil company exported a total of 19.75 million tonnes of oil from Ceyhan in 2013, versus 20.2 million tonnes in 2012. The oil is delivered to the port of Ceyhan via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline.

The total length of the BТС is 1.768 kilometers, including a 443-kilometer long section running through Azerbaijan, a 249-kilometer long section in Georgia and a 1,076-kilometer long section in Turkey. The construction of the pipeline started in April 2003. It was filled with oil on May 18, 2005.

BTC Co. was established on August 1, 2002 for the management of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline construction project.

The shareholders of BTC are BP (30.1 percent), AzBTC (25 percent), Chevron (8.90 percent), Statoil (8.71 percent), TPAO (6.53 percent), Eni (5 percent), Total (5 percent), Itochu (3.40 percent), Inpex (2.5 percent), ConocoPhilips (2.50 percent) and ONGC (2.36 percent).
