By Fatih Karimov - Trend: The construction of Iran's West Ethylene Pipeline is complete by 79.62 percent, Marzieh Shahdaei, the project manager of the National Iranian Petrochemical Company, said.

The project can create many jobs in the region concurrent with inaugurating a couple of petrochemical plants on the route of the pipeline, Iran's Shana news agency quoted Shahdaei as saying August 3.

The pipeline is a main artery feeding petrochemical plants located in the western provinces, especially Ilam, Lorestan, Mahabad, and Kordestan petrochemical complexes, she said.

The West Ethylene Pipeline will extend 2,700 kilometers. It will have the capacity of transferring 3.5 million metric tons of ethylene. It will get 2.5 million metric tons of ethylene from the South Pars gas field.

The construction of the pipeline started in 2002. The entire pipeline stretches from Assaluyeh in southern Iran to the province of West Azerbaijan in northwestern Iran. Fourteen petrochemical plants are located on the route of the pipeline.
