Iran exported $802 million of petrochemicals in the sixth Iranian fiscal month (August 23-September 22).

The country exported over 1.5 million tons of petrochemicals in the mentioned month, Iran's IRIB reported on October 18.

Iran's total petrochemicals output amounted to 4.078 million tons, of which 1.2 million tons valued at 20,000 billion rials (about $570 million) were supplied to the domestic market.

Since the beginning of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 21), Iranian petrochemical companies produced 23.7 million tons of products.

Iran's petrochemical output hit 44.4 million tons in the past Iranian fiscal year (ended on March 20), 10 percent more year-on-year.

The country's actual production capacity is around 60 million tons, but the shortage of natural gas as feedstock, old production units, and the problem of sanctions, which has dropped exports, have caused petrochemical complexes to work at lower capacities.
