BP: Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline capex down

Capital expenditures on the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline totaled $5 million, while operating expenditures were nearly $29 million in January-March 2017, reads a BP Azerbaijan report for the first quarter of 2017.

Capital expenditures on BTC amounted to $11 million in January-March 2016.

In 1Q2017, 8.3 million tons (61.7 million barrels) of oil were transported via the BTC.

Since June 2006 until Apr 1, 2017, 357 million tons (about 2.67 billion barrels) of oil were exported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline.

Total length of the BТС is 1,768 kilometers, including a 443-kilometer section running through Azerbaijan, a 249-kilometer section in Georgia and a 1,076-kilometer section in Turkey. Construction of the pipeline started in April 2003. It was filled with oil May 18, 2005.
