Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met CEO of South Korean Hyundai Engineering Co., Ltd. Sang-rok Sung, the Turkmen Altyn Asyr TV channel reported.
The businessman declared readiness to present new mutually beneficial proposals to the Turkmen side, which include investment projects in the field of processing of the fuel and energy sector products with the participation of South Korean and other companies in order to strengthen fruitful cooperation, the report said.
During the conversation, the sides noted great opportunities for building up business cooperation, the priority vector of which is the introduction of innovations, the implementation of joint projects in the field of industrial processing of natural resources and diversification of the industrial sector of the Turkmen economy, including the fuel and energy sector.
In recent years, Hyundai Engineering Co. has implemented a number of projects in Turkmenistan, involving construction of a gas desulfurization plant at the Galkynysh field and modernization of a refinery in the city of Turkmenbashi.
The company also announced completion of the construction of a polymer plant in the Balkan province of Turkmenistan. This plant is designed for the annual production of 386,000 tons of high density polyethylene and 81,000 tons of polypropylene.
