Kazakhstan to annually increase gas production

Kazakhstan plans to annually increase gas production, Trend reports via Kazakh media.

"In the future, it is planned to further increase gas production. We predict the average annual growth rate of gas production at 4 percent from 2019 to 2030," Vice-Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Magzum Mirzagaliyev said, speaking at the parliament.

He also spoke about the amount of gas produced in past years.

"Gas production at the end of last year amounted to 55.5 billion cubic meters, which is 5 percent more than in 2017. The main share of gas production is provided by large fields - Karachaganak (34 percent), Tengiz (28 percent), and Kashagan (14 percent)," Mirzagaliyev said.

The vice-minister also noted that of the 55.5 billion cubic meters of gas produced, about 14.2 billion was pumped back into the reservoir by subsoil users to maintain reservoir pressure in order to increase the recoverability of liquid hydrocarbons, 6.8 billion cubic meters are used for own technological needs of subsoil users, more than 15 billion cubic meters are consumed by the domestic market and more than 19 billion cubic meters are exported.
