Turkmenistan, Mongolia mull opportunities for co-op in energy & agriculture sector

Turkmenistan and Mongolia held political consultations in Ashgabat, Trend reports with reference to Foreign Ministry of Turkmeninstan.

The delegation from Ulaanbaatar was headed by Mongolian Deputy Foreign Minister Batmunkh Battsetseg.

The sides agreed that it is necessary to arrange exchange of visits at the highest level to give impetus to bilateral relations, the news report said. The parties touched upon the need to develop trade and economic relations, the potential of which is not fully disclosed.

The issues of establishing export-import operations between the two countries, in particular in the field of energy resources and agricultural products, were also considered. The sides stressed that there are good prerequisites for the development of the dialogue, considering three main areas of diplomacy - energy, transport and water.

Turkmenistan is a major exporter of natural gas and electricity in the region. The country also grows cotton, wheat, rice and vegetables.
