Shell, Kazakhstan may jointly develop fields in Caspian Sea

Royal Dutch Shell and Kazakhstan may begin joint activities to develop the Kashagan and Karachaganak fields, participate in the development of the Kalamkas and Khazar wells in the “Pearl” section in Caspian Sea, Trend reports with reference to primeminister.kz.

Andrew Brown, Director of the Shell’s global Upstream business, and Askar Mamin, Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister discussed this topic during the meeting.

A promising direction for the company is also the development of alternative energy sources. Royal Dutch Shell is working on a project to build a solar power plant in Taraz, Kazakhstan.

Head of Government Askar Mamin noted that the company is among the major investors. Today, the country is strengthening measures to ensure a favorable environment for the conduction of investment projects and strengthens mechanisms for the protection of investors' rights.

At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their intention to expand areas of interaction and implement new joint projects.
