The Norwegian company Equinor (former Statoil) plans to carry out 2D and 3D seismic survey at Ashrafi-Dan Ulduzu-Aypara (ADUA) field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea this month, which depends on the schedule of the seismic survey vessel, Trend reports with reference to sources involved in the project.
The vessel “Gilavar” belonging to Caspian Geophysical company will operate at the field.
Prior to commencing the work at ADUA field, Equino will hold public hearings on the prepared Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report.
Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR and Statoil Azerbaijan (part of the Equinor group) signed a Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) for the Ashrafi-Dan Ulduzu-Aypara exploration area on May 30, 2018.
The ADUA exploration area is located about 50 kilometers east of Baku, some 14 kilometers to the east of Azerbaijani mainland (Absheron peninsula), and approximately seven kilometers to the east of Azerbaijan’s Pirallahi and Chilov islands, in water depths varying between 20 and 225 meters.
