Turkmenistan is aimed at diversifying the gas supply routes to the world market, in which a steady growth trend in demand for energy resources is observed, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said at a governmental meeting, Trend reports referring to the Turkmen media.
"Today Turkmenistan is consistently implementing its energy strategy, the key aspects of which are an increase in the volume of production and export of natural gas," the Turkmen Dovlet Khabarlary state news agency cited the president as saying.
Much attention is paid to an increase in the production of petrochemical products through the creation of modern facilities specializing in the deep processing of hydrocarbons, Turkmenistan TV channel reported.
Turkmenistan is the biggest natural gas supplier in Central Asia. At this stage, China is the main buyer.
According to the Program for the Development of the Oil and Gas Industry of Turkmenistan, the annual production of natural gas is expected to be increased up to 250 billion cubic meters in 2030.
