SOCAR invests over $1B in Georgian economy

SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) invested over $1 billion in the Georgian economy in 2007-2018, Trend reports referring to the 2018 SOCAR report on sustainable development.

SOCAR's activities in Georgia are carried out through SOCAR Georgia Petroleum, SOCAR Gas Export-Import, SOCAR Georgia Gas, SOCAR Georgia Gas Distribution, the Black Sea terminal and other companies.

SOCAR Georgia Petroleum organizes wholesale and retail sale of Azerbaijani oil products and third-party oil products on the Georgian market. The main activity of SOCAR Georgia Gas is to ensure the implementation of the Georgian gas supply program.

SOCAR Georgia Gas supplies and distributes natural gas to the regions of Georgia and operates a local gas network with over 670,000 subscribers. The main activity of SOCAR Gas Export-Import is the supply of natural gas to two groups of consumers - the population and production facilities.

In 2017, SOCAR exported 1.37 bcm of gas to Georgia.
